GormanThayer was founded on the premise that we seek to offer our clients a different approach and philosophy from what is currently available in the marketplace. 

The Principals of GormanThayer have witnessed a number of private equity fundraising endeavors over the years and realize that a majority of these efforts fail to address the needs and questions of limited partners as they relate to the specific fundraise at hand. Typically, general partner groups either hire outside vendors who apply a cookie cutter approach to raise capital, or they attempt to fundraise on their own, oftentimes with only partial knowledge of limited partners’ due diligence processes and their investment focus. In either case, the limited partner is left to discern how the opportunity fits into their portfolio’s framework and to discover the true strengths of the offering by reviewing generic and stiff presentation materials that are not focused on their requirements. 

Our unique buy-side experience applied to the fund raising process allows us to add significant value by boiling down and presenting the most compelling aspects of a general partner’s particular opportunity. It is this better translation that maximizes our clients’ ability to raise awareness and capital.
